Last week Melissa and I drove a three and a half hour southbound stretch of I-95 and Route A1A following the Atlantic shoreline to spend our 20th anniversary at a bed and breakfast on the beach outside of St. Augustine, Florida. I had never been to that city and was looking forward to the getaway and the town. So here are our vacation pictures. There are a lot of 'em -- eighty-six to be precise. But they are arranged in such a way that can facilitate a rapid tour so you can see all or a few. The B&B on Anastasia Island was the Coquina Gables, an eighty year old beach house which contains neither Coquina stone nor gables. Our hosts were the first to point out that fact to us. But this diminished the two night stay not in the least. With a magnificent setting a mere hundred yards from the edge of the Atlantic (give or take the turn of the tide), next door to a huge Spanish-style mansion, owned and operated by a charming couple, serving fabulous gourmet breakfasts, Coquina Gables will be a place worth a return trip.
So without further ado, here are our vacation pictures. Feel free to torch up a bag of popcorn and your favorite tropical beverage and join us on a return to a more simple time, away from the worries and cares of the real world.
